Koepke Named Chief Creative Officer At SapientNitro

Filling a role left vacant since the departure of former Nitro President Kathy Delaney two years ago, Gary Koepke has been promoted to Chief Creative Officer for North America at SapientNitro.

SapientNitro had courted Koepke to be its creative director for months following the closing of his Boston-based Modernista agency in 2011. Hailed as a visionary independent shop that attempted to align brands’ campaigns more closely with what customers truly care about, Modernista scored clients such as MTV, Cadillac, and Gap before falling victim to recessionary cutbacks.SapientNitro finally landed Koepke in July 2012.

As global executive creative director at the agency, Koepke directed work for Chrysler, Fiat, and Visit Florida. In his current position, he will serve as a member of the SapientNitro Global Creative Council, whose mission is to help clients create “storyscapes” that can improve customer experience through technological avenues and events.

“Joining SapientNitro a year ago started as an experiment and turned into a renaissance,” Koepke says.  “It’s not afraid to pioneer new approaches that cut across storytelling and technology.”

Adds Worldwide CCO Gaston Legorburu: “In one short year Gary has made significant contributions to the evolution of SapientNitro through his involvement to redefine storytelling for an always-on world.”
