Kayak.com Improves Low-Price Fare Search Functionality

Travel search engine Kayak.com introduced new search functionality that lets users find low-priced airfares.

People will be able to search up to three days before or after the day they choose to travel.

One new feature is a traveler profile page designed to provide more personalized services like search history, member pages, e-mail alerts and a profile. The search engine displays results according to a person’s specific travel preferences and search history, Kayak, Norwalk, CT, said.

“Basically, research shows that consumers who book online all want more features, and flexible search was the No. 1 demand,” said Kayak vice president of communications Kellie Pelletier. “In addition, 30 percent of our feedback e-mails were individuals requesting this type of feature because lots of our consumers are what we call flexible.”

Half of consumers polled by JupiterResearch claim they want the ability to search for lower-priced airfare, Kayak.com said.

“The point here is to give consumers more options and through this we have gotten one step closer to online travel agencies,” Ms. Pelletier said.
