Juno Serves Papers to Alleged Spammer

Free e-mail company Juno Online Services L.P., New York, served court papers to alleged pornography bulk spammer Ronald Alvin, a principal of TCPS Inc., at his Brooklyn, NY, home this week after searching for him for four months. In May, Juno filed a federal lawsuit seeking damages against a number of defendants that it said forged the Juno name into spam headers, a common practice among unscrupulous e-mail marketers to avoid returned e-mail and consumer backlash. Juno said it is seeking punitive damages of more than $1 million from Alvin and TCPS for damage to Juno's reputation, along with damages for federal trademark infringement, false designation of origin, fraud and unjust enrichment.
