JTA focuses on Net, relaunches Web site

After 90 years in the news business, JTA – the international Jewish news service – has said that it will be focusing on the Internet as its primary medium for news. It has re-launched its Web site at www.jta.org in a move to take advantage of new multimedia and interactive opportunities.

The news site – which publishes international news and features – serves more than 250,000 monthly unique visitors in more than 100 countries.

New features on the site include blogs, podcasts, photo galleries, video clips and a number of ways for readers to provide feedback and chat with other readers. A new search engine allows for easier site navigation and archive searches.

Free weekly online newsletters that cover politics, the Middle East and Europe will be added to the JTA Daily Briefing and JTA World Report.

Dancingmind, a studio providing strategic and interactive design services for media organizations, provided the creative direction of the site redesign. Mediapolis, a technology firm, created the technical development of the site.
