Johnson and Johnson names new marketing chief

Johnson and Johnson will promote Michael Sneed to VP of global corporate affairs effective Jan. 1, the company said in a statement. He will report to Johnson and Johnson chairman and CEO William Weldon.

In his new role Sneed will oversee all global marketing and public relations functions for the brand. He will replace Brian Perkins who will remain with the company and report to Sneed until his retirement in March.

Sneed previously served as company group chairman, overseeing Johnson and Johnson’s global vision care franchise. He joined the brand in 1983 as a marketing assistant and has since held various leadership positions.

Johnson and Johnson has recently experienced several product-related public relations problems, including multiple recalls of batches of a number of its popular over-the-counter products, including Benadryl, Children’s Tylenol, Rolaids, Motrin and Tylenol PM in 2010 and 2011.

Johnson and Johnson declined to provide additional comment.
