J.D. Power Clubs, Inc. yesterday introduced an offer to the roughly two million former Priceline.com gas cardholders for a month of free membership in Carclub.com, a card offering a 10 percent discount on gasoline at roughly 110,000 national and independent gas stations.
J.D. Power Clubs made the move in response to Priceline.com’s decision to wind down operations of WebHouse Club, the gas and grocery arm of its operations. Carclub.com launched its Membership and Gas MasterCard roughly six months ago. The card is priced at $5.99 per month. Additional membership benefits include a car insurance deductible paid to the consumer of up to $500 and a toll-free phone number featuring a mechanic question and answer hotline and a road directions service.
The Carclub.com Web site, www.carclub.com, is currently highlighting this special offer and providing registration information for Priceline members. The card can also be ordered by calling 1-800 CARCLUB.
