IronPort Systems restores Web site

Spyware firm IronPort Systems Inc. has revamped its spam, virus, spyware and identity theft traffic monitoring Web site and opened it to the public.

The new Web site at www.senderbase.org gives users comprehensive data that Internet service providers and companies use to differentiate legitimate senders from spammers and other attackers based on reputation scoring.

“Reputation is based on data and the breadth of data is the key in making accurate decisions about security threats,” said Tom Gillis, senior vice president of marketing at IronPort Systems, San Bruno, CA.

The site gives reputation scores to anyone with a domain name or an IP address. Users can then measure to find out whether their identity is being threatened by criminal activity. Users also can enter their domain or IP address into the reputation lookup section and measure their own IronPort Reputation Score.

The site gives summary reports for spam and virus threats, which is monitored round the clock and identified by location with integrated Google Maps, threat type and volume.

The reports include the type of virus, the IP address, domain and volume. These reports are updated in real-time and also offer historical analysis. Data can be exported so that users may create their own reports.

Consumers, media and other parties can use SenderBase to monitor threat activity, check their e-mail reputation scores and get real time updates on the latest virus outbreaks.
