IPlanet E-Commerce Solutions said yesterday that it will team with Toronto-based B2B online appropriation service provider Firmbuy Inc. to market a new e-procurement service.
IPlanet BuyerXpert and iPlanet Market Maker users will now have access to Firmbuy’s network of more than 725,000 products and services from as many as 7,000 different manufacturers.
The online network consists of a wide selection of office products including computer equipment and maintenance repair and operations supplies.
“The strategic relationship between iPlanet and Firmbuy leverages the core strengths of each company,” said Lynn Schiller, Firmbuy executive vice president of operations. “Further, it provides clients with the key benefits they need to drive their procurement costs down and increase profitability.”
In addition, iPlanet also announced it has updated its iPlanet BuyerExpert software. Company officials said the software now allows international organizations to issue purchase orders in multiple currencies. In its enhanced version, the software paves the way for users to track and compare suppliers.
IPlanet, a Sun-Netscape Alliance, was established in March1999 by America Online Inc. and Sun Microsystems. The company produces a variety of software for doing business on the Internet.
