Inventory System Gets Web Speed

Direct Tech Inc. yesterday announced its eForecast and eDataMart inventory systems, which will be available in early summer after the software company recently adapted its older programs for Internet use.

Steve Houston, sales executive for the Omaha-based firm, said the systems were used together to formulate merchandising strategies, as well as track warehouse and distribution activity. However, he said, the systems do not handle financial chores such as accounting.

Houston said the older programs Forecast 21 and DataMart have been used by apparel and sports equipment catalog companies who mostly handle their own fulfillment – although the program is used by firms that outsource on the back end as well. He said those systems had to brought up to Internet speed as more and more catalog firms go online.
