Interep Interactive to Acquire Winstar Interactive Media

Winstar Communications Inc. said yesterday that it will sell its Winstar Interactive Media Web property representation division to Interep Interactive Inc. The deal is expected to close next month.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Interep Interactive is a division of Interep National Radio Sales. Winstar Interactive Media generates advertising sales and creates sponsorships and content syndication packages for 18 branded Web publishers, including Fodors.com, uBid and Kiplinger.com. Both companies are based in New York.

Upon completion of the deal, Winstar Interactive Media will operate as an independent subsidiary of Interep Interactive. John Durham, senior vice president at Winstar Communications, will take over as president of Winstar Interactive Media.

“Winstar Interactive Media will be able to enhance its value to marketers by tapping into established Interep programs, such as joint sales with radio stations, sweepstakes, billboards and sponsored message delivery via e-mail to handheld devices and cell phones,” Durham said.

Interep Interactive also operates Perfect Circle Media, a representation firm for online financial services sites. In addition, it has an interest in Burst, an ad network that serves single-topic Web sites.
