Intel/Pentium III Boycott Extended

After meeting with representatives from Intel, boycott organizers at Junkbusters Corp., Green Brook, NJ, and the Electronic Privacy Information Center, Washington, DC, said yesterday that they decided to continue their call for a consumer boycott of the company despite the tech giant's decision to turn off a feature in its new Pentium III processor that is capable of automatically transmitting a computer's serial number. Citing dissatisfaction with the long-term ramifications of the technology and how it will be distributed, organizers have threatened to target distributors of the technology as well. Also, the boycott organizers claim that the attorneys general in New York and Massachusetts have contacted them about the privacy issue. With sales in excess of $26 billion, Intel makes 85 percent of the world's computer processors.
