Instagram will start showing ads in other countries

After a highly successful initial run in the US, Instagram is expanded its ads platform to three other countries.

Instagram tentatively introduced ads to its platform back in October last year, and despite the initial backlash, it’s managed to do pretty well. As long as users don’t feel like they’re seeing images that are overtly commercial or just plain unattractive, engagement for branded content on the platform has been impressive.

Building on that success, Instagram is now bringing ad capabilities to three other English speaking countries, the UK, Canada and Australia. For the big global brands who were already a part of Instagram’s preferred advertising partner networks, this is a welcome addition, and given the same language, it won’t be a huge leap for Instagram to start getting revenues from these new international markets.

Instagram says we can expect to see the ads roll out for even more countries later in the year.
