Infuzer Turns E-calendars into Ad Storage Space

On Board Info has introduced technology called Infuzer, which is designed to improve ad value for Web sites and e-mail newsletters.

The technology allows viewers to collect ad information — as well as non-marketing info — and store it in their electronic calendars.

Participating marketers will host an Infuzer icon at their site or in their e-mail newsletter. When users highlight information and click on the icon, the info is downloaded into their calendars. Information can be downloaded into calendars in Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes and Act, as well as in calendars for personal digital assistants and other portable devices.

Infuzer gives viewers a Personal Update Page, where they can receive notices about events and products for which they have downloaded information. For instance, the user can be alerted of a change in the time or date of an event. Special offers and other product pitches can also be made at the Personal Update Page.

For the benefits of Infuzer, users will have to sign up for a free download of the technology http://www.infuzer.com or at participating Web sites.

The Sporting News, New York, next month is expected to become the first company to use Infuzer. A spokesman said the firm plans to market the technology to its Web viewers as a tool to store sports teams' schedules, statistics and player-on-player match-ups for upcoming games.

Financial terms of the agreement between On Board and The Sporting News were not announced. However, Don Sullivan, president of US operations for On Board, Westport, CT, said that sites are generally charged $5,000 annually plus other usage fees.
