InfoInterActive Launches Online Call-Waiting System

InfoInterActive Inc. recently launched its Internet Call Manager 2000, an online telephone service that the Canadian software firm will market to local phone companies and Internet service providers throughout North America.

The system allows companies to offer their online customers a variety of ways to redirect incoming phone calls without disconnecting from the Web. Internet Call Manager uses a pop-up window that provides information about the incoming call, including name, phone number, city and state/province.

Bill McMullin, CEO of InfoInterActive, Bedford, Nova Scotia, said that ISPs weren't the only Web firms that will make online phone management systems an option to their customers in the future.

McMullin said that larger online retail companies would also someday offer this feature to shoppers, citing statistics by International Data Corp., Framingham, MA, an Internet technology research firm, that predicted 21.3 million households will have Web-enabled call-waiting systems by 2003.
