Infogroup Q4 2009 revenues drop 11%

Fourth-quarter 2009 revenue at Infogroup, which is undergoing a rebranding initiative and exploring sale options, dropped 11.3% year-over-year to $125.8 million from $141.9 million.

The company also saw a $2.4 million net loss during the fourth quarter of last year. During the same period of 2008, it posted net income of $2.4 million.

For Infogroup’s 2009 fiscal year, which runs concurrently with the calendar year, the data company saw unaudited revenue of $499.9 million, a 15.1% drop from 2008 when it posted revenues of $588.7 million.

The database giant reported a net loss of $6.8 million for FY 2009. For the 2008 fiscal year, its net income was $4.8 million.

Infogroup launched a company-wide rebranding effort last year to unify its various business units. The company also laid off 40 employees this month.

Late last year, Infogroup amended CEO Bill Fairfield’s employment agreement to renew quarterly. It retained Evercore Partners in December 2008 to evaluate a possible sale.

Infogroup also combined e-mail unit Yesmail and digital services arm Walter Karl Interactive into one entity, known as Infogroup Interactive, last month. Last fall, it merged its nonprofit-focused units into one direct marketing services provider called Infogroup Nonprofit.
