Infogroup cuts 40 jobs

Infogroup, in the midst of a company-wide rebranding initiative and sale speculation, laid off 40 employees this week.

“This new sales and business methodology will help us remove layers in the organization and get us closer to the customers and their needs,” said Lisa Olson, SVP of corporate relations at Infogroup, in a statement. She added that the cuts “impact 40 of our colleagues at all levels and locations across the organization.”

Late last year, Infogroup amended CEO Bill Fairfield’s employment agreement to renew quarterly. The data company retained Evercore Partners in December 2008 to evaluate a possible sale.

In December, Infogroup began rebranding its various companies with a common name and logo to eliminate confusion in the marketplace over its many direct marketing businesses. Last month, it combined e-mail unit Yesmail and digital services art Walter Karl Interactive into one entity.
