Inbox Insider: E-mail marketing firms move into Asia-Pacific market

Although e-mail marketing has been a global business for years, numerous US-based vendors are now growing their presence in the Asia-Pacific marketplace. This week, e-mail firm StrongMail extended its small footprint in the region through a partnership with XCOM Media.

XCOM, an Australia-based digital agency that serves the Asia-Pacific market, will sell StrongMail’s products, providing strategic, creative, technical, deliverability and account management services.

StrongMail had distributed its e-mail products in the Asia-Pacific marketplace through Australian company FusionWare. However, the new endeavor is more focused on strategic services, which StrongMail added to its business model in 2008. StrongMail’s clients in the region include WebJet, an Australian-based online travel agency.

StrongMail is not alone in branching out to the Asia-Pacific marketplace. Last year, e-mail marketing firm Epsilon doubled its Hong Kong-based Asia-Pacific headquarters, expanded its Singapore and Sydney offices and added new offices in Melbourne and Mumbai. The database and e-mail marketing player is focused on providing strategic consulting services in the region.

Meanwhile, Experian’s CheetahMail launched its business in Australia in 2008 and in Singapore and Hong Kong in 2009. Responsys launched an office in Singapore in 2008.
