HP CMO Mendenhall exits; Wohl named comms chief

Sources have confirmed that Bill Wohl, VP of PR at SAP, is exiting the software company to join Hewlett-Packard as chief communications officer. Meanwhile, sources also confirmed to PRWeek that Michael Mendenhall, CMO of HP, has left the company.

HP declined to comment on hiring Wohl and Mendenhall’s departure.

Wohl’s hiring at HP comes months after the appointment of CEO Leo Apotheker, who previously served as CEO at SAP. Phone calls for comment were not returned by SAP.

Mendenhall was named HP’s CMO in October 2007. This past August, David Shane, VP of global corporate communications at HP, left the company and the external communications team began reporting to Mendenhall. Before HP, Mendenhall served as EVP of global marketing at The Walt Disney Company.
