Honda Tweaks E-Commerce Web Site

Honda has streamlined its e-commerce site by providing customers with faster information, the automaker said yesterday. The site, www.ehonda.com, initially launched in May. Customer feedback led to a host of changes to tweak the site and provide direct access to configure a vehicle and obtain a price quote.

“Originally a customer might click through several screens to reach the page where they can configure a car and ask for a price quote,” said Steve Center, senior manager for e-business at American Honda. “Now you can begin configuring a vehicle after just one screen.”

With the refurbished site, once a customer has configured his new Honda vehicle, he can ask the site for assistance in selecting a dealer. Five dealers will be listed, with priority given to dealers with which the customer has a prior sales or service relationship. Other dealers will be listed based on proximity to the customer. The site will also indicate which dealers are “Honda Certified Internet Dealers.”

Other site features include product and accessory configuration; printable features; finance/lease payment calculator; online credit pre-approval through American Honda Finance Corp.; special Internet-only offers; electronic test drives and appointments; a printable map to the dealership; and a customer survey form.
