Homlish named HP CMO

Hewlett-Packard Development Co. (HP) named Martin Homlish EVP and CMO on April 19. He will begin work at the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company on June 1, reporting directly to CEO Leo Apotheker.

Homlish will lead marketing across the company and serve as a member of HP’s executive council. He will join HP after more than 10 years at German software company SAP, where he and Apotheker previously served as CMO and CEO, respectively. Previously, Homlish spent 15 years at Sony Corp.

Homlish will replace Michael Mendenhall, who resigned in January and was hired as Lipman Advertising‘s president and COO in March. Mendenhall served as the general chair of the 32nd John Caples International Awards in March 2010.

HP also said April 19 that Thomas Hogan resigned as EVP of enterprise business sales and marketing.

SAP said in a statement that it is searching for Homlish’s successor. Jonathan Becher, EVP of global marketing, will lead the company’s marketing on an interim basis.
