Home shopping network IndieShop to debut on Wizebuys

IndieShop, a television-based shopping service that will sell handcrafted designer items, will debut on Wizebuys TV June 14. Wizebuys TV is a paid programming network that reaches approximately 40 million homes in 150 markets.

Cross MediaWorks, a New York-based multiplatform media firm, is launching the home shopping network, which is scheduled to run 10 and a half hours per week, three times a day.

The company decided to launch IndieShop after internal discussions by company executives about unique items designed by local artisans, according to Larry Rubin, COO of Cross MediaWorks.

“The idea of making this product available on what is the most important medium we continue to have — TV — and tying that together with multiplatform offerings, was something we thought was a unique opportunity,” he said.

IndieShop will have a social media component in addition to TV, web and mobile.

“We have a YouTube channel, where we are slowly releasing video segments on each designer,” said Melissa Perrucci, VP of business development at Cross MediaWorks.

The company plans to distinguish IndieShop from other home-shopping enterprises by showcasing behind-the-scenes features on designers, paying special attention to their products’ development.

“IndieShop is not just shopping programming but lifestyle programming as well,” added Rubin. “We want to cover the independent design, independent production, even some of the travels these designers do to get their products made.”

The network will sell clothing, gifts, handbags, jewelry, home décor and pet accessories.
