Hearst's CDS Wins Reed Business Information

Reed Business Information, a New York-based unit of Reed Elsevier Group PLC, tapped Hearst Corp.'s Communications Data Services Inc. to handle trade subscription fulfillment.

CDS is converting the 480,000 paid- and controlled-circulation list of 35 Reed Business Information titles to its SERV B2B fulfillment system. Publications include Publishers Weekly, Interior Design, School Library Journal and Variety.

CDS also will help Reed Business Information with its business-to-business subscription services, Internet services, customer service, product fulfillment and mailing services. CDS' Harlan, IA, facility will serve the client.

Gaining Reed Business Information as a client is a milestone for CDS' BTB publishing market business. It comes a year after the launch of CDS' BTB services offering. The company now offers both broad consumer and BTB trade subscription services.

The CDS B2B system is based on its SERV subscription fulfillment service, which offers real-time subscriber updates, unlimited record storage, flexible reporting and client access. CDS' BTB clients can use 425 fields of variable demographic information to aid in file management for both paid and controlled subscriptions in a single-file format.

One of the world's leading fulfillment bureaus, CDS is based in Des Moines, IA.
