Brand marketing firm Halo Industries Inc. has sold its Market USA Inc. teleservices unit to European customer-relationship outsourcing provider SR.Teleperformance.

Total purchase price of the Market USA teleservices unit was $32.5 million. Niles, IL-based Halo said it would use the money to pay outstanding debts.

The sale is part of Halo's efforts to focus on its core business of providing branded marketing services, said Marc Simon, Halo's CEO. The money from the sale of Market USA will also aid Halo in achieving its profitability goals.

Market USA performs both inbound and outbound telemarketing and was bought by Halo in 1996. With the purchase of Market USA, SR.Teleperformance, Paris, gains 18 contact centers in the United States and Canada with a total of 1,500 workstations.

SR.Teleperformance operates 145 contact centers worldwide in 30 countries. With the addition of Market USA, SR.Teleperformance now has 67 contact centers in North America, 62 of which are in the United States, and 6,595 workstations.

The purchase of Market USA helps SR.Teleperformance strengthen its position in the North American market and puts the company 18 months ahead of its growth goals for the U.S. market, SR.Teleperformance said.
