Groupon hires Euro RSCG for customer relationship marketing

Daily deal website Groupon has tapped Euro RSCG Chicago to handle its customer relationship marketing efforts, including its mining of consumer behavioral data and digital programs.

The agency will work with Euro RSCG Discovery, its sister data analytics, CRM and behavioral marketing agency, to give Groupon a range of customer relationship marketing functionality, according to a statement from the agency.

A Groupon spokesperson confirmed that the company hired Euro RSCG, but declined to comment other than to say, “We are pleased to work with Euro RSCG.”

Neither company would reveal a start date or details about the selection process.

Will Byrne, corporate communications manager at Euro RSCG Chicago, said his agency will offer Groupon strategic counsel to optimize e-mail and response marketing. He declined to provide specifics on how the agency will do so.

Groupon reportedly rejected a $6 billion acquisition proposal from Google this week. Bloomberg News reported that Groupon founder Andrew Mason rejected the acquisition because it would “sap employee morale and alienate business clients.” Neither Mason nor Groupon has made any formal statements on the matter.
