Group 1 Introduces New Version of MailStream Plus

Group 1 Software, Lanham, MD, announced yesterday a new version of its flagship presort software program, MailStream Plus 6.2.4.

The product, which is certified by the U.S. Postal Service, is designed to help companies pre-sort mail for the highest-attainable postal discounts. The new version integrates customers’ existing manifest reporting systems–enabling them to produce manifests for their mailings during the normal execution of a standard mailstream job. The new version also allows mailers to generate drop-shipped mailings automatically, enabling customers to take advantage of the lowest postage rates from the USPS.

Another upgraded feature allows users to automatically adjust the amount of mail being shipped to a specific entry-point based on the cost of shipping to that point. This allows mailers to avoid sending mail to a destination where the shipping costs are too high for the volume of mail being dropped.

Some customers who are already testing the software are pleased with it.

“The considerable enhancements Group 1 has made to MailStream Plus will enable us to remain ahead of the curve as it pertains to pre-sortation and postal discounts,” said Frank Morgan, customer warehouse manager, JCPenney, Plano, TX. “For instance, with the upgrades to the product, we will be able to more efficiently and finely route our mailings using the enhanced entry point features.”

Morgan said this was important because “with the continued growth of e-commerce and increasing competition from other direct mail catalogers, we must continually strive to optimize our postal expenditures.”
