Grey names Golden first chief digital officer

Ad network the Grey Group has hired Josh Golden as the company’s first EVP and chief digital officer.

Golden will oversee all digital communications, set the agency’s digital strategy, lead recruitment and drive digital business efforts. He will work directly with Jim Heekin, chairman and CEO, and Tor Myhren, Grey New York’s chief creative officer, from the company’s flagship New York office.

“We have added significant digital business from both existing and new clients in recent years,” said Heekin. “As this business has reached critical mass, we felt the time was right to bring in a world-class talent to maximize our existing resources, develop the digital organization that will drive Grey’s future success, and be at the forefront of new media.”

Golden most recently worked at EuroRSCG New York as managing director of digital since 2007. He also worked as group director of digital marketing for NBC Universal and spent five years at ad agency Young & Rubicam.

“Our goal is to provide fully-integrated solutions for our clients…seamless online and offline branding,” Heekin added. “Digital is not a separate function; it is at the core of our business as a big, global agency with large clients, so we’re not out to compete with specialty boutiques.”
