Greenfield: Convenience Drives Shoppers Online

Seventy percent of Internet consumers plan to do all or some of their holiday shopping on the Net, according to a report released this week by Greenfield Online, Westport, CT, an Internet market research firm.

Consumers cited Amazon.com, CDNow.com and eToys.com as the top three most popular destinations they will visit, in that order.

More than half the 4,849 respondents cited convenience and crowd avoidance as the main reasons to shop online; and 60 percent said they think they can find the cheapest prices at virtual stores.

Forty-seven percent worry about not being able to return goods to the store, and 43 percent expressed concern about submitting credit-card details over the Internet.
