Google, Yahoo and Microsoft pay online ad fines

Google, Yahoo and Microsoft paid a total of $31.5 million in a settlement with the US Attorney’s office in St. Louis, MO. Each company was charged with accepting ads from online gambling companies. Microsoft will pay a $4.5 million fine and also donate $7.5 million to the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children. It also agreed to provide $9 million in anti-gambling public service ads. Yahoo and Google have agreed to pay $3 million each, with Yahoo also providing an additional $4.5 million for public service ads. None of the companies have admitted to any wrongdoing.
