Google is alert on behalf of bloggers

Google has launched Blog Alert, which automatically sends e-mails to users when there are new Web pages, news articles, blog posts or group posts about their topics of interest.

Users create an alert by specifying a set of keywords pertaining to their interests. When new results match those keywords, they’re e-mailed to the user.

“This ties into Google’s mission of making information more accessible and useful,” said Kavita Khurana, associate production manager at Google, Mountain View, CA. “For users that want them, e-mail alerts can help them stay on top of new information and topics of interest.”

The search giant also added a Comprehensive Alert, which can show results from multiple sources like Google News, the Web and blogs. This way, users get more information whenever their favorite topics appear online.

Blog Alert was designed for people who may only want to read a post about a topic of their interest rather than reading through them all. Also, those who only want to read blog posts by a particular writer or two will find this helpful as well.
