Google inks deal to acquire Vark.com

Google has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Aardvark, a company that runs the social searching site Vark.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Spokespeople from both companies declined to comment beyond confirming the news. This comes on the heels of Google’s move to become more social. This week, Google released Google Buzz, a tool that lets Gmail users send small updates, similar to Twitter’s “Tweets,” within the inbox.

In addition, this past fall, Google made its search engine more social by adding social indexing technology to its search engine. Google searches now include real-time feeds of status updates from sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
