Goodthings.com is partnering with 4charity.com in an effort to facilitate online donations to nonprofits featured on its Web site.
Goodthings.com is a Seattle media company that focuses on bringing the good things businesses and organizations do to the public's attention.
4charity, San Francisco, is supplying the online donation services that will let goodthings.com visitors read a story, then immediately donate to a cause. Users can make donations to any nonprofit in 4charity's online search engine of more than 738,000 charitable organizations. All are tax-deductible destinations.
Barcy Fisher, president/CEO of Goodthings, started the site in November. She said the online donation function is one way to enhance the site, build traffic and ultimately attract corporate sponsors.
“We're trying to build our readership base,” she said. “Then we'll be able to attract corporate sponsors. We currently have over 3,000 readers who receive our weekly newsletter, the GoodLetter. We have over 20,000 visits to the site each month.”
Fisher plans to report on the activities of corporate sponsors while retaining editorial control of general content.
“We want to build a long-term relationship with our corporate sponsors,” Fisher said. “But there will be a clear delineation between sponsorship content and general content.”
