Peter Horan resigned as CEO of Goodmail last week after nearly two years in the position. Daniel Dreymann, co-founder and president of Goodmail, said he will take over Horan’s responsibilities. No replacement will be hired.
Horan will serve as Goodmail’s chairman of the board, as well as a consultant on company business strategy.
“Peter wanted to get involved in other activities,” said Dreymann. “He will still devote some of hits time to Goodmail, but not 100% of his time. He will still represent us, but he won’t be running the show on a daily basis.”
At Goodmail, Horan raised considerable funding and oversaw product releases including video in e-mail technology. During his tenure, Goodmail released Epostmarks, a digital stamp for US Postal Service-enabled e-mails, and created the CertifiedDomain whitelist for e-mail senders.
“We had two major goals in mind when we hired Peter, which were to raise a big round of money, which we did when we raised $28 million in 2008, and to monetize CertifiedEmail, which we did last year when we had a banner year for cash flow,” said Dreymann.
Goodmail also announced a partnership with Striata, a company that secures electronic document delivery. Striata will launch and sell CertifiedEmail SecureDoc, a tool that helps companies deliver sensitive documents, such as bills and statements, as encrypted e-mail attachments.
