Spiegel Brands Inc. and Golden Gate Capital completed of their acquisition of Carabella Corp. and its Carabella and A.B. Lambdin catalog businesses.
The Carabella and A.B. Lambdin brands were founded in 1983 and 1981, respectively. Carabella Corp. is headquartered in Irvine, CA.
The acquisition gives Spiegel Brands an opportunity to serve a larger share of the growing swimwear market.
San Francisco-based private equity firm Golden Gate has been on something of DM buying spree of late. In November it acquired Appleseed’s and Draper’s & Damon’s, in March, Norm Thompson Outfitters and last month it funded the merger of e-commerce services firm Ecometry with planning and merchandising software company GERS Retail Systems.
Golden Gate’s catalog titles operate independently, according to the company.
