Global-QVC, 3 Cable Stations Reach Merchandise Deals

Global-QVC Solutions will partner with three national cable stations to market merchandise related to their popular television programs via DRTV and the Internet, the marketing and fulfillment firm said yesterday.

The three stations partnering with Global-QVC are Comedy Central, classic television channel TV Land and PAX, a family programming channel. Global-QVC is developing e-commerce Web sites for the cable stations and will handle customer service, fulfillment and merchandising.

The cable stations will have spots to promote the Web sites and the products, many of which are still under development. Products among the QVC-Global offerings are commemorative “I Love Lucy” wristwatches, “The Andy Griffith Show”-themed cookie jars and merchandise relating to Comedy Central's “The Daily Show,” “The Man Show” and “South Park.”

“We have developed an avid fan base by creating unique programming that cannot be found on any other network,” said Holly Lim, vice president of enterprises and corporate strategy for Comedy Central. “Our goal is to develop merchandise with the same appeal.”

TV Land's e-commerce site is operational. PAX's online marketing program went live late last year, while Comedy Central's effort is to begin in the second quarter of this year.

Global-QVC, King of Prussia, PA, is a division of Global Sport Inc., an outsourced e-commerce provider. Home shopping network QVC, West Chester, PA, is the largest shareholder in Global Sports.
