Geometry Names Jim Carlton its Creative Chief

Sales promotion agency veteran Jim Carlton has been named chief creative officer of Geometry Global, the brand activation unit of WPP. Carlton spent 15 years at the Frankel promo shop, which was renamed Arc Worldwide and acquired by Leo Burnett Group in 2012. Carlton was hired to provide creative vision and oversight for Geometry’s 10 offices.

“Jim is a unique blend of a world-class inspirational creative thinker and a savvy businessman who understands intimately how to sell our clients’ products and services. There aren’t many creatives out there like Jim,” Geometry CEO Carl Hartman said in a statement announcing Carlton’s appointment.

Carlton spent nearly two decades at Frankel/Arc, rising from creative director to EVP and managing creative director. He helped create McDonald’s “Simple Bold” promotion campaign and played an instrument role in Arc’s wins of the Intel and Walmart accounts. Other big names in his creative portfolio include Coca-Cola, MillerCoors, P&G, Sprint, and United Airlines.

The Arc agency’s “Beautiful Hair, Whatever the Weather” campaign for Pantene won a Grand Prix at the 2015 ARF David Ogilvy Awards.
