Geezer.com Offers Handiwork of Senior Citizens

Green Thumb Inc., a company that helps senior citizens find employment, recently launched Geezer.com, an e-commerce site offering senior citizens' craftwork.

The site — www.geezer.com — offers more than 2,000 items in 17 channels, including ones for artwork, dollhouses, jewelry, books, and yard and garden ornaments. Pricing can be as low as $6 or as high as $495.

Green Thumb, a company founded in 1965 for retired farmers, said the name of its site was meant to raise attention and subsequently to attract baby boomers and crafts aficionados of all ages.

“Boomers have money and are attuned to shopping on the Web,” said Katrine D. Fitzgerald, director of communications at Green Thumb, Arlington, VA. “And we generally are going to attract people who appreciate art or people who themselves are craftspeople.”
