ForRent.com uses social media for video contest

Apartment seekers can win $10,000 in Rent.com’s second annual video contest, which helped the company build brand awareness.

The contest asks would-be renters to tell the site why they are ready to move.

 “Last year’s contest raised brand awareness and built brand loyalty for ForRent.com, which increased the number of potential renters using the Web site and ultimately delivered more qualified leads to our clients,” said Terry Slattery, president of For Rent Media Solutions, in a statement.

Last year’s contest yielded a 57% increase in site traffic, according to the company.

Contestants can enter on Contest.ForRent.com through May 27, and users can participate directly from Facebook. YouTube, MySpace and Twitter also will be used to market the contest, according to the release. Visitors to the site will vote on the videos from May 6 to June 24, with the winner to be announced shortly.
