Flycast Announces E-Mail Plans

New York-Internet ad network Flycast Communications Corp., San Francisco, yesterday announced it has formed an e-mail division dubbed Flycast eDispatch and is set to begin offering e-mail services to marketers sometime before the end of the year.

The Flycast E-mail Network-the first phase of a planned four-pronged approach-will enable marketers to advertise on e-mail publications similarly to the way Flycast delivers banners across its network of some 1,000 sites, the company claims.

“We’re going to roll out a system that scales to thousands of publishers,” said Larry Braitman, newly appointed executive vice president of eDispatch. He declined to give details on the number or types of e-mail publications the Flycast E-mail Network will represent.

Sometime in the first and second quarters of 2000, Braitman said, Flycast will unveil three more initiatives: Flycast Permission Marketing, Email Marketing Management Services and Flycast Customer Relationship Management Solutions.

Under Flycast Permission Marketing, the company says it will help current Flycast Network sites gather e-mail names.

Under Email Management services, Flycast plans to sell e-mail list management and development tools through local Yellow Pages sales forces to small business owners. “We see small publishers and merchants as an under-served market in terms of e-mail,” said Braitman.

Through Flycast Customer Relationship Management Solutions, the company is aiming to get involved in outbound e-mail marketing. Negotiations are on with unnamed vendors, Braitman said.
