Fingers, Hands Unlock Company Networks

Miros Inc., a firm that specializes in biometrics systems, Tuesday announced its eTrue program that secures company Web networks by requiring employees to verify their corporate status with their faces or fingerprints.

According to the company, eTrue accommodates an unlimited number of users and would allow firms to cut back on technical employees, saving companies money. Miros, Wellesley, MA, said its system would attract a wide range of companies in need of secured information — from online investment firms holding insider trade briefings to Internet retailers looking for a new remedy to online credit card theft of their customers.

The program will premier in July and runs on Windows 98 and NT stations. Cost was not disclosed in a prepared statement; eTrue comes with video cameras and finger readers reportedly at no additional charge.
