FedEx Expands South Korean Flights

FedEx Express, the express subsidiary of FedEx Corp., said yesterday that it is adding seven weekly flights departing from Seoul, South Korea.

FedEx currently operates 20 weekly South Korean flights via Inchon International Airport.

Five of the new flights connect Inchon directly to Subic Bay, the Philippines — home of the FedEx AsiaOne hub, which provides customers with connectivity to all 215 countries in the FedEx global network. Adding the direct flights lets the company extend its drop-off times for outbound shipments to Asian and U.S. destinations by two hours.

Asia continues to be one of the fastest-growing international regions for FedEx. In the company's 2004 second quarter, FedEx International Priority's average daily package volume grew 4 percent year over year, led by 11 percent growth in Asian export volume.

This is the latest in a recent series of expanded service offerings FedEx has made in Asia. Others include six additional flights between Hong Kong and the FedEx European hub in Paris; additional frequencies between Hong Kong and Subic Bay; and enhanced services to Japan that provide U.S. and European customers with shortened package-transit times.
