Federated Department Stores Inc. announced yesterday it was exploring the possible acquisition of Target Corp.’s Marshall Field’s department store chain.
Target unveiled plans last month to review options for its 62-store chain, including the possibility of outright sale.
Federated, Cincinnati, owner of Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s and Burdines, did not disclose additional details of the ongoing talks with Target.
