FCC Slaps Telemarketers With Citations

The Federal Communications Commission issued citations to 13 companies it accused of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the agency said yesterday.

A majority of the citations involved charges of placing unsolicited commercial prerecorded message calls to residential phone lines. Others included unsolicited commercial faxing and violations of do-not-call requests.

No fines issued with the citations were disclosed.

Ten companies received citations charging violations of the TCPA's ban on unsolicited commercial prerecorded messages: Accurate Collision Repair Inc.; A Friendly Carpet Cleaning; Integrated Chiropractic Clinic; Silverleaf Resorts Inc.; American Health and Life Insurance; Executive Carpet & Beyond Inc.; JZA Development Corp.; Inbound Calls Inc.; Chon-Ji Academy of Martial Arts Inc.; and Captain Clean Carpet Care.

Cardon Enterprises and Toner World Inc. received citations on charges of sending unsolicited commercial faxes, which also are banned under the TCPA. Newgen Results Corp., a subsidiary of Denver-based teleservices firm TeleTech Holdings Inc., received a citation involving failure to honor a consumer no-call request.
