FBI Conducts Search at Gecko Call Center

FBI agents this week raided a Kansas City, MO-area call center of telemarketing firm Gecko Communications, television news station KMBC 9 reported.

An agency spokesman confirmed that the FBI had executed six search warrants at Gecko's call center in Shawnee, KS, but said further information would not be available pending the unsealing of a federal affidavit. A spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Kansas City said the affidavit remained sealed and that no charges had been filed.

Doors were locked at Gecko's Lawrence and North Kansas, MO, offices, as well as at three other locations in Iowa, KMBC 9 reported. Calls to Gecko's headquarters in Urbandale, IA, were unsuccessful.

According to the company's Web site, www.geckocomm.com, Gecko has 120 seats at its call centers, located in Shawnee and Lawrence, KS; North Kansas City, MO; and Des Moines, Brooklyn and Stanton, IA. The company had been engaged in marketing credit card offers, KMBC 9 reported.
