Eyeona, Inc. recruits former Best Buy and Yahoo execs

Eyeona, Inc. has tapped two high-profile execs for its advisory board: former EVP and CMO of Best Buy, Barry Judge, and Yahoo!‘s former EVP and CMO, Elisa Steele. Eyeona is a free mobile shopping app and website that tracks price protection policies and price fluctuations.

Both Steele and Judge were recruited by Eyeona using “internal resources,” says Paul Patterson, company cofounder and SVP of corporate development. The new recruits will serve “outside the company’s normal marketing organization,” Patterson says.

He says the impetus behind the move is the growth of Eyeona’s mobile application, which debuted in November 2011 under Eyeona’s former brand name Savvy.com. “We launched the application for the holidays and have experienced explosive growth since,” Patterson says.

“We wanted to bring in additional expertise and additional knowledge to support our growth and scale as we finish this year and head into the next year,” Patterson says. “Barry [Judge] brings a lot of expertise in how the relationships between consumers and retailers are changing, and how new technology can help traditional stores compete with Web and digital-based retailers like Amazon,” he says.

Of Steele, Patterson says: “We are looking to leverage her expertise in customer acquisitions to engage customers and excite the Web 2.0 world.”

Eyeona’s board convenes once a month, says Patterson, who points out that these are not “full-time positions” for either Steele or Judge. Presently, Judge is also on the board of Totalwine.com and Steele is on the advisory board of CareZone and Forbes Executive Women. She is also director of the board of directors at RMG Networks.

On Eyeona’s advisory board, Steele and Judge join former Visa CTO David Allen, and Itamar Simonson, the Sebastian S. Kresge Professor of Marketing at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.
