Experian Bolsters Marketing Business With Hire

Data services company Experian brought in a top executive from Information Resources Inc. as part of plans to expand its marketing services business arm.

Mark Parise was named president of Experian Marketing Services, succeeding Deborah Zuccarini. He will report to Zuccarini in her newly created job as group president of Experian Marketing Solutions, a division that includes Experian Marketing Services as one of four business units.

“I want to make sure we have a strong core business, to make sure it's fresh and vital,” Parise said. “All things next generation are vital, but we [also] have to stay close to our core competency — the core data business, the core processes and our relationship with catalogs and direct mail, making sure we meet retailers' needs.”

Parise, 44, previously was president of global content operations at Information Resources and before that served with General Electric and Chase Manhattan.

As part of his mandate, Parise also will focus more attention on offering Experian's tools and consultancy services to clients and prospects. Experian Marketing Services has 1,300 employees in 18 offices nationwide. It is based in Schaumburg, IL.

Zuccarini's appointment also signals a new focus at Experian Marketing Solutions. Her goal is to better promote the company's addressable media solutions as mass media merges with direct, strengthen online offerings and expand presence in Canada and Latin America.

Experian recently bought Simmons Market Research, Predictive Analytics, PriceGrabber.com and, in early January, FootFall, a provider of customer counting and analytics to retailers.

“We're continuing to expand in online marketing as well as the research business,” she said. “You'll see us expand some of our data business, and you'll see us make technology acquisitions where it makes sense.”
