Executives Move From The Edge to Launch Cool Stuff

The Cool Stuff Catalog, West Chesterfield, NH, a new gift catalog and e-commerce operation, will publish its inaugural issue in late Spring 2000. A group of former executives from Genesis Direct’s The Edge Company will pool their talents for the new company.

The Edge is set to be auctioned off at Genesis’s bankruptcy auction Dec. 14 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Newark, NJ.

The new catalog will offer a product line similar to The Edge Company’s, including electronics, specialty gifts and tools. In a clear swipe at Genesis, spokesman Robert Kasper said in a Business Wire press release, “The phenomenal success of The Edge Company catalog, prior to its acquisition by Genesis, was its solid-gold reputation and relationship with its customers, vendors, and employees. Too many companies forget those iron-clad rules, forget to listen to the very people responsible for their success. At Cool Stuff, the entire enterprise will be founded on those rules.”

The Web site will also launch in Spring 2000 to coincide with the initial catalog mailing.
