E-mail service provider ExactTarget was named the 56th fastest growing private company in the United States on the 2006 Inc. 500, a list of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies.
ExactTarget, Indianapolis, was the second fastest growing company in the advertising and marketing category and the fastest growing company in the state of Indiana.
The 2006 Inc. 500 list measures revenue growth from 2002 through 2005. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by the first week of 2002, and therefore able to show four full calendar years of sales.
Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, and independent — not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies — as of Dec. 31, 2005. The minimum revenue required in the base year is $600,000.
ExactTarget’s revenue growth rate during this period was 1,139 percent. Employees grew to 180 by the end of 2005.
The Inc. 500 recognition comes on the heels of two other major awards for ExactTarget. Earlier this year, the company received the Corporate Value Award from the Association for Corporate Growth and the Information Technology Company of the Year Award from the TechPoint Association.
