Evite Inc., an online activity planner, said yesterday that it will join forces with OracleMobile, a division of Oracle Corp., to launch Evite's wireless initiative. With Web- or message-enabled devices such as Web phones, wireless personal digital assistants, Palms or other hand-held devices, consumers now can access Evite's activity planning services.
Under the agreement, OracleMobile will build, deploy and host Evite's wireless Web site. OracleMobile's wireless hosting service allows Evite's wireless application to be personalized and customized so consumers can receive up-to-date information when event information changes. With the wireless device, consumers can instantly receive and send Evite invitations and check for maps and driving directions from any location.
“Embracing a wireless solution is a natural step forward for us and really helps us take the Evite service to an entirely new level,” said Josh Silverman, CEO of Evite. “By working with OracleMobile, we are able to offer our consumers access to Evite.com from anywhere, at anytime. Evite is evolving from a destination site to a branded event communication network.”
