Euro RSCG moves NY co-CEO to Europe, cuts staff

Euro RSCG has reassigned former New York office co-CEO Pete Zillig to a position in Europe, the agency confirmed May 26. Jeff Brooks will serve as Euro RSCG New York’s sole CEO, reporting to Lee Garfinkel and Matt Ryan, chairmen of Euro RSCG. The agency also said that it has eliminated some staff as part of the restructuring.

Zillig joined Euro RSCG’s New York office in February after serving as president of global brands at Euro RSCG Worldwide. He joined the company’s London office in 2006.

The agency declined to provide further details on why Zillig was moved or about his new job. The company did say, however, that it is restructuring its leadership after losing the Jaguar and Heineken USA accounts. It also let go of “less than 5% of the total staff,” the company said in an emailed statement. “No further reductions are planned at this time,” it added.

Heineken USA named Wieden & Kennedy its new AOR earlier this month after working with Euro in that capacity since August 2009. Bloomberg Businessweek reported the agreement’s advertising budget at $70 million to $75 million.

Jaguar named Spark44 its AOR in February, according to numerous reports. Euro RSCG had served as the luxury carmaker’s AOR for the previous six years.

The restructuring was first reported by Mediabistro’s AgencySpy blog.
