EUniverse recently purchased a promotions technology from Funbug Inc., which went out of business this spring.
Applications gained include the ability to run sweepstakes, games and contests that are designed to capture viewers' data and keep them at the site. The Funbug system also can be embedded in e-mail campaigns.
Cash prize winners get Funbug debit cards, which can be used wherever MasterCard is accepted. The cards are tied to members' accounts and are partly targeted at adolescents who do not have credit cards.
EUniverse, Los Angeles, plans to integrate the applications into its network of games and entertainment sites such as justsaywow.com and bigfatbaby.com.
